Letter #25 Crafting a new reality, writing & the rain in Minecraft
Nothing is real - John Lennon
Writing this letter has been a struggle lately. Some days, it feels like a daunting task to even get out of bed. However, as they say, the show must go on. I often reflect on why I started writing these letters, and I realize that it's my way of staying grounded and redeeming myself.
I believe that writing is a superpower. It's a liberating experience that allows you to build new realities and express your thoughts and emotions in a way that is unique to you. Through writing, I have found solace and a sense of purpose.
Recently, I've rediscovered my love for Minecraft and have been spending a lot of time immersed in its world. I find the game similar to writing, as both allow you to create an entire universe from scratch. Using the necessary blocks, I set out to build a cozy shelter by the ocean to protect myself from the various monsters and zombies that inhabit the game's survival world. Before long, I had constructed a three-story house complete with a kitchen, living room, and even a swimming pool on the terrace. On occasions when it started to rain in the game, I found myself wishing that the downpour would never cease.
Writing, Minecraft, and our own reality share a fundamental similarity - the power to create. Just as a writer crafts a story from their imagination and a Minecraft player builds a world from blocks, we too have the ability to shape our own lives and experiences.
In essence, writing, Minecraft, and our lived reality are all interconnected avenues through which we can explore our imagination and creativity, and shape our lives and the world around us. It's up to us to seize the opportunity and build the reality we desire.
I’ll write again, my friend.
Yours,
