ABOUT BOHEMIAN DIALOGUE

Bohemian Dialogue is edited and led by Saurabh Singh, driven by a singular mission: to preserve the orality, philosophy, and history of India.

As founder and editor, Saurabh shapes the platform as an archival research space, editorial publication, and physical craft ecosystem designed to protect the cultural memory of the Indian subcontinent—bridging rigorous historical inquiry and living material tradition.

EDITORIAL PILLARS (BOHEMIAN DIALOGUE)

Our research and editorial platform centres around three core domains:

  1. Lost Art: Documenting vanishing visual traditions, forgotten craftsmanship, architectural heritage, and overlooked regional aesthetics before they fade from memory.

  2. Indian History: Publishing deep, long-form essays and field studies on historical throughlines, literary movements, regional dialects, and forgotten spaces across the subcontinent.

  3. Folklore & Orality: Archiving oral storytelling, regional myths, and traditional fables—preserving the breath, rhythm, philosophy, and sociology of spoken heritage (Dastangoi and Kathakars).

COMMERCE MODELS (BOHO HAAT)

Boho Haat is the tangible extension of this mission, designed to bring story and craft into everyday utility through two distinct offerings:

  1. Storytelling Bags: Canvas and everyday utility totes designed explicitly to tell the story of Indian folktales—translating oral narratives and traditional iconography into wearable cultural badges.

  2. Artisan Fine Art & Daily Objects: Original paintings, folk art, and hand-crafted functional objects sourced directly from traditional and tribal artisans—providing fair, direct patronage to the masters of indigenous craft.

OUR ETHICAL COMMITMENT

Saurabh’s editorial vision ensures that preserving a narrative goes hand-in-hand with sustaining the human hands that carry it:

  • Direct Artisan Patronage: We work directly with traditional and tribal creators, ensuring they are paid their full asking price without middleman exploitation.

  • Guaranteed Stability: We absorb inventory risk ourselves so artisans receive reliable monthly income regardless of market sell-through.

  • Complete Attribution: Every painting, art piece, and artifact bears the name and narrative of the artisan who created it, preserving both the craft and the creator’s identity.

WHY WE EXIST

When you read a Bohemian Dialogue essay or carry a Boho Haat artefact, you act as an active patron of subcontinent heritage—ensuring our national philosophy, history, and oral traditions remain unforgotten.
